Meet Scott Blurton
Born and raised in British Columbia, Scott Blurton moved to Ottawa nine years ago to pursue his graduate studies. Graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Master’s Degree in Political Science, Scott worked in partisan politics before losing his position in the midst of the Great Recession of 2008-2009. Caught in the experience gap, Scott then spent the next year unemployed, unable to find work. Finally, mere days before he would have been forced to go onto welfare, Scott finally got his opportunity when somebody gave him chance. One opportunity led to another and eventually Scott joined the public service where for the past four years he has served as an analyst at Natural Resources Canada.
Having lived in Capital Ward for four years, Scott is seeking election as city councillor for the opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to him. He will work together with others to build a capital city in which everyone gets their fair chance by focusing on youth unemployment, smart development, affordable housing, open data, transportation choice, mental health and poverty reduction. He will work hard as your councillor and is looking forward to earning your vote.
